In the heart of the Nebbio stands isolated the beautiful Church of San Michele de Murato. Built around 1280 this little church is a good example of the Pisan Romanesque architecture.

Several external decoration are highlighted by the chromatic white and the green rocks, the church was built on the a former chapel dedicated
to St Michel, of from two centuries older, utilising alternating two local stones the green blue rock coming from a nearby river valley and the stone coming from Patrimonio region.

The roof is covered with slate. The façade the apse and the side walls have some strange sculptures and bas-relief in Romanesque stile. Inside there are still some frescoes depicting the St Gabriele and the Virgin Mary.
