“with their bas reliefs in the brickwork” |
|
Five crumbling brick towers, set quite close on a single terrace, hide, within their barren exterior, remarkable bas reliefs on the brickwork of the interiors. The brickwork has been constructed with absolutely tight mortar-less joints with the use of only a thin vegetal binder. Externally, there are the usual decoration: lintels, dvarapalas and other small figures, so we headed directly to the bas reliefs of the interior, unique example of the Angkorian art.

Inside the central tower:
to the left a large figure of Vishnou, with the usual attributes - a disc, a sphere, a conch and a club. One of his feet a figure in prayer, while the other side a standing female figure,
to the right a Vishnou mounted on the shoulders of Garuda between two seated figures in prayer.
In front, another Vishnou with eight arms framed by six rows of standing figures in prayer.
